Selvatura's Treetop Walkways is a 1.9 mile (approximately 3 kilometer ) trail that crosses through the cloud forest, in which our visitors will walk through eight different bridges from various lengths ranging between 150 feet ( 50 meters ) up to 510 feet ( 170 meters ) and altitudes ranging between 36 feet ( 12 meters ) up to 180 feet ( 60 meters ).

Each of the bridges feature a five foot width, the widest ones in the country, and also a capacity of up to 80 people per bridge making them both the longest and strongest bridge system in Costa Rica.

The treetop walkways are suitable for people of all ages and physicalcondition. Guided and self guided tours may be booked in advance, and the duration of the tour is usually between 1.5 and 2 hours.

Monteverde has several biological reserves which have have been responsible of promoting this destiny. Among the most important ones are: The Biological Reserve of Monteverde, Biological Reserve of Santa Elana and the Eternal Children's Rain Forest.

Together these reserves and plus some other adjacent protected zones comprise an area superior to the 30.000 hectares of protected virgin forest.

Each of these reserves have been born thanks to the conservationist and visionary effort of many people, who want to preserve the environment and help a great number of endemic species that reside in these forests. This desire to help the planet has been an inspiration for many people. A special case worth mentioning is the one of the Eternal Children's Rain Forest. This forest was on sale and in danger to be destroyed, which motivated a child to begin an international campaign to save this special forest. This campaign spread everywhere and received donations to buy and to preserve this forest. Donations were mainly gathered by children worldwide. Because of this event this forest has been and will always be the legacy of the children of the entire world, in addition to a source of inspiration for all those of us that believe in the protection of the environment.
